November Medina County F1RST Quarterly Meeting Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the November Quarterly Meeting! We had an excellent presentation by Helen Hill, LISW, on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)—a powerful, evidence-based approach for trauma treatment. New Behavioral Health Initiatives Are Live

We’re excited to announce that two key behavioral health programs are now live on our website under the SERVICES tab:

• Behavioral Health Grants

• EMDR Services

These initiatives are designed to support the mental and emotional well-being of first responders. But they only work if people know about them! We are counting on YOU to be the mental health champions in your department. Please help spread the word so your colleagues can take advantage of these resources.

Updated Mission Statement

At the board meeting prior to our quarterly session, the board voted to update our mission statement to:

“To provide supportive interventions for first responders to enhance their mental and emotional well-being through peer support, incident debriefing, evidence-based treatment, and resilience education to help them thrive in their personal and professional lives.”

This reflects our ongoing commitment to comprehensive mental health support.

Team Member Shirts

The board also approved purchasing one shirt for each new team member who completed their initial training in April of this year. More details on distribution will follow soon.

• The PEER SUPPORT page on our website is now active! We are looking to add more pictures and bios to the site. If you are someone who tends to be more interested in the peer support aspect of our team rather than the group setting, this is a perfect opportunity for you! Click HERE to complete your bio.

• Certificates Needed: If you have not forwarded your ICISF Completion certificate, please do so to msavetski@mcfrst.org 

• Ohio CISM Network Registration: We are needing to renew our Ohio CISM team registration. If you are a new member of our team and have not completed an application form yet, please do so and email the completed form to msavetski@mcfrst.org. If you are unsure about the date you completed the "Group CISM" training, please leave it blank. Application Forms can be found HERE.
